Tiered Pricing / Sliding Scale
Laura offers three tiers of pricing for their services. Under “Note to Practitioner/Reason for Booking,” please write which tier you need and your invoice will be adjusted accordingly, no questions asked.
Tier One: Standard Rate is for you if you have the financial resources to pay this amount without jeopardizing your ability to meet your basic needs or significantly limiting your activities and purchases. This rate is for you if you may have to account for the cost, but can afford it.
Virtual 75 min/new $300, 50 min/follow-ups $200, 30 min/check-ins $120
The Light Clinic 90 min/new $360, 60 min/follow-ups $240
Tier Two: Community Rate is for you if this amount does not jeopardize your ability to meet your basic needs, but may require weighing between this and other discretionary spending such as vacation, eating out, entertainment, etc. This is also the base rate at The Light Clinic as a gift to the local community.
Virtual 75 min/new $230, 50 min/follow-ups $155, 30 min/check-ins $90
The Light Clinic 90 min/new $270, 60 min/follow-ups $180
Tier Three: Reduced Rate is for you if you are experiencing financial hardship and paying a higher rate would jeopardize your household’s ability to pay for basic necessities. If you cannot pay Tier Two, this rate is for you.
Virtual 75 min/new $150, 50 min/follow-ups $100, 30 min/check-ins $60
The Light Clinic 90 min/new $165, 60 min/follow-ups $110
Laura asks that you:
pay what you can safely and honorably afford.
ask for what you need.
consider the ways in which you carry privilege in the world, and whether this is a moment to pay the standard price and leave the reduced price tier for someone else (LGBTQ, BIPOC, disabled).
Sometimes deciding where on a sliding scale is appropriate for you can be challenging. Alexis J. Cunningfolk wrote the following description of financial sacrifice versus hardship, which I find helpful:
Please be mindful that if you choose a discount at the lowest end of the scale when you can truthfully afford the higher prices, you are limiting access to those who truly need the gift of financial flexibility.
If paying for a class, product, or service would be difficult, but not detrimental, it qualifies as a sacrifice. You might have to cut back on other spending in your life (such as going out to dinner, buying coffee, or a new outfit), but this will not have a long term harmful impact on your life. It is a sacred sacrifice in order to pursue something you are called to do.
If, however, paying for a class, product, or service would lead to a harmful impact on your life, such as not being able to put food on the table, pay rent, or pay for your transportation to get to work, then you are dealing with hardship. Folks coming from a space of hardship typically qualify for the lower end of the sliding scale.
At the end of the day, the sliding scale thrives on trust. Trust is a pretty amazing thing. I trust you to be honest in your assessment of your economic reality.
